My introduction was essentially to understand better how the swiss “typical” school system works and to show already some differences with the american system. My first move was about the U.S school system, which was pretty short because it was at the beginning of the year and that I didn’t experiment enough to tell a lot about it. My move 2 was about a new experiment that my own aunt s doing in Switzerland with her students. A day of school working at a farm, learning through nature and natural food. For my move 3, I wanted to find a case of initiation in US similar to my move 2. I had contact with Mrs Henke Mueller, who talked to me about edible school and afterwards I did my own research about the creation of edible school all around US. My move 4 is about the Finland school system and trying to understand the reason why it is so successful. It is working so well because it is specially focus on the “ Less is more” and “ happy teaching and happy learning “ philosophy.

My favorite and most interesting discovery was the Finish system. Because I think it is uncommon nowadays to have a whole country with believing in the same value of “less is more”. This whole population believe in collaboration for the education system. They try a system for a longer period, with less work but with probably a better quality. Unlike Americans, or the most of the Europe’s school system where school is overstressing for students, and overstress means also overtired and not happy at all. I was pretty impressed how Finland works and how successful this education system sounded during my entire research.

Conclusion

My final conclusion would be that I think that Finland is the best. I like the fact that everyone is equal and every has the chance to have the same education. I like the fact that you can totally stop school and start to work at the age of 16 in Switzerland. Because some children just don’t like school and studies, so it is a great opportunity for them to do something they like. I like the fact that you can pick your level in every classes that you’re taking in U.S. system of school. It permits the students to work with people that they are at the same level than them and also being with other people in every classes. I also really like the idea of the farm school and the Edible Schoolyard. I think it could be possible to explore more and take more initiative in both of the countries to achieve to a successful and famous farm school program. Ultimately, Finland is the best for my opinion. I like their values of collaboration, that Switzerland and U.S. probably miss.

What could be interesting, would be a mix between the “less is more” of Finland’s system and the farm school to learn in the nature. Since Finnish students don’t have a lot of classes, they could have some other new classes in a farm and through nature.

Why not trying to explore this idea, and move to Finland for a couple of years to learn deeply about the system and coming back to Switzerland to try to develop the concept in my swiss education system ?
